Surrender Information
Unforeseen and unfortunate events can happen to any of us. We know that even the best of owners may find they must re-home their Borzoi. BR-NC provides a safety net for these moments, taking the Borzoi into our care until an excellent match can be made with a new, forever home. We prefer to have as much information about a dog as possible when it comes into rescue, but we will take any Borzoi - no questions asked - if necessary.
If You Must Re-Home a Dog You Own
- BR-NC strongly recommends that you first contact the dog's breeder. Responsible breeders remain committed to the welfare of their Borzoi throughout the dog's life. Your breeder can connect with the larger Borzoi community to help find an appropriate new home for your dog.
- BR-NC also urges you to do a home check of any potential new owner you are considering. If you cannot do the home check yourself, BR-NC will arrange the home check for you.
- If you have been unable to locate a suitable new owner, you may surrender your dog to BR-NC.
If you wish to retain full responsibility for placing your dog and guaranteeing its future, consider using BR-NC’s Referral Program.
- We ask that the dog be spayed/neutered and current on vaccinations and heartworm.
- You must fill out and sign a Surrender Agreement and give us whatever records and information you have for the dog. This greatly assists us in placing the dog successfully.
- A donation of $100 is requested to help cover the costs of ownerless shelter rescues and strays.
- BR-NC takes full responsibility for placing your dog and guaranteeing its future.
